Every bottle rated on a 0–10 scale across Nose, Palate, Finish, Complexity, and Value. Here's what the numbers mean.

| 9.5 – 10.0 | Exceptional | One for the history books. Buy it, cellar it, share it. |
| 9.0 – 9.4 | Outstanding | Elite whiskey. Worth seeking out at any reasonable price. |
| 8.5 – 8.9 | Great | A genuinely excellent bottle. Buy with confidence. |
| 8.0 – 8.4 | Very Good | More good than not. Solid choice for most occasions. |
| 7.0 – 7.9 | Good | Worth drinking. May not be worth hunting for. |
| 6.0 – 6.9 | Average | Unoffensive. Better options exist at the price. |
| 5.0 – 5.9 | Below Average | Hard to recommend. Pour it in a cocktail. |
| 0 – 4.9 | Hard Pass | Don't bother. Life is too short. |
About the Consensus Score
What is a Consensus Score?
A Consensus Score is the average rating a bottle gets from everyone who's tasted and scored it on Whiskey Consensus, across five categories — Nose, Palate, Finish, Complexity, and Value — each on a 1–10 scale. It runs alongside our expert WC Score so you can see where the crowd and the critic agree, and where they don't.
How does a bottle qualify for the rankings?
A bottle needs ratings from at least 3 different people before it's eligible to appear on the ranked board. That threshold keeps one person's score from deciding a bottle's rank — it takes real consensus, not a single vote.
