A little background

Found North Snow Day 10 Year Cask Strength Whisky is a limited release built from an intricate blend of twenty component whiskies aged between 10 and 26 years in 12 different cask types. Bottled at cask strength and crafted from a mash bill of 50% corn, 47% rye, and 3% malted barley, this expression reflects the brand’s exploratory approach to blending. According to Found North, Snow Day is easily the most complicated whisky they have ever made, drawing on a wide range of cask types, including multiple styles of port, new American oak, Hungarian oak, and ex-bourbon, to shape the final profile. Found North Snow Day is limited to 8,256 bottles, carries a retail price of $109.99, and is bottled at 115 proof (57.5% ALC/VOL).

This release is exclusively available to Found North’s Mailing List. If you are not already a member, you can join the waitlist, which also signs you up for the Mailing List, at the link below for a chance to purchase Snow Day when allocations become available:

The project began with a well-matured 2015 vintage rye and expanded into a broader blend intended to capture the brand’s northeastern roots and seasonal inspiration. While the release features a high-rye foundation, it is supported by older corn components and select finishing casks chosen to build structure and depth. The result is a cask-strength offering positioned as a distinct, winter-themed expression within the Found North lineup.

In closing

Found North Snow Day 10 Year Cask Strength is an outstanding example of the blending talent over at Found North. The nose offers rich dark red fruits, caramel, brown sugar, and warm baking spices, followed by a thick, full palate of caramel, dark chocolate, blackberry, raisin, cinnamon, roasted nuts, and toasted oak. Everything carries through to a long finish of dried fruit, clove, tobacco, cocoa, and lingering herbal rye spice that will leave your mouth watering for another sip. The depth, balance, and complexity of this whisky is incredible. While its extremely limited availability may make it hard to track down, the combination of flavor, craftsmanship, and value makes Snow Day a standout release that fully embodies the spirit of Found North.
