A little background
Hardin’s Creek Warehouse Series Release No. 3 “The Owl” continues the brand’s deep dive into the influence of maturation environments on American whiskey. Crafted at the Jim Beam Distillery and bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV), this limited edition expression is aged for 11 years and carries a suggested retail price of $149.99 per 700ml bottle. Like all releases in the Warehouse Series, “The Owl” shares an identical mash bill with its siblings, allowing the unique aging conditions, specifically from Warehouse G, a towering nine-story warehouse, to highlight how rickhouse architecture and microclimate shape the final spirit.
Hardin’s Creek, a premium collection from James B. Beam Distilling Co., is known for pushing the boundaries of American whiskey tradition while honoring a legacy spanning nearly 230 years. With each release, including “The Owl” and its fellow Warehouse Series bottles “The Mushroom” and “The Beaver,” the brand spotlights new stories and experimental processes that exemplify the innovation and craft at the heart of the Beam family legacy.

In closing
Hardin’s Creek Warehouse Series Release No. 3 The Owl delivers a balanced and complex bourbon experience, with classic Jim Beam character shining through layers of vanilla, spice, roasted peanuts, sweet cream, caramel, and toasted oak. The palate is full and rich, offering depth with notes of brown sugar, roasted peanuts, baking spices, and aged leather, all brought together by a satisfying mouthfeel and a medium to long finish. While availability and price may keep this bottle out of reach for some, Release No. 3 “The Owl” stands out as an enjoyable, nuanced pour, one that I found more rewarding than Release No. 1 “The Mushroom”, though just a step behind Release No. 2 “The Beaver” in the series.
