A little background

Jack Daniel’s 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey (Batch 1) is a new release within the brand’s Aged Series, marking the first 14-year-old expression from Jack Daniel’s since the early- to mid-1900s. It is part of a series that also includes Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey and 10-Year-Old. The 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey is offered at 126.3 proof (63.15% abv) and is made with Jack Daniel’s classic mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. It is distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and mellowed through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. Jack Daniel’s 14 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey carries a retail price of $150 USD.

In closing

Jack Daniel’s 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey (Batch 1) is an exceptional whiskey and easily ranks among the best I’ve had the opportunity to experience, not just from Jack Daniel’s, but overall. It presents a rich and sweet nose with prominent charred oak, baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg), fruit notes of cherry, and the classic Jack Daniel’s banana, along with deeper layers of caramel, toffee, leather, and tobacco. The palate delivers a satisfying sweetness with brown sugar, butterscotch, and caramel, balanced by cinnamon, baking spice, cherry, leather, and oak, all with a creamy and viscous texture. The finish is long and warming, with persistent oak and spice, complemented by lingering sweetness from brown sugar and caramel, and nuanced notes of leather and tobacco.

Overall, Jack Daniel’s 14-Year-Old offers a beautifully complex and well-integrated profile that exemplifies the potential of aged Tennessee whiskey.
