Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey takes it name from the African American master distiller named Nathan Green who is said to be responsible for teaching Jack Daniels how to make whiskey. While their distillery is being built, Uncle Nearest has sourced whiskey from prominent Tennessee distilleries. The Uncle Nearest 1856 expression is non-age stated and is bottled at 100 Proof. Retail priced around $60.

In closing
Just like in my review of Uncle Nearest 1820, I must stress that labelling something “Premium” doesn’t mean it should be priced as one. While not 100% this is sourced George Dickel whiskey, it is close enough in flavor profile to judge it against Dickel products. If you’re interested in giving the Uncle Nearest brand a try, I would personally suggest you start with the 1856 before moving onto the higher priced 1820 release. Although I’d say you could find more appropriately price alternatives for both labels, these are still unique options and worth a try.

Very interesting story behind Uncle Nearest. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some. The combination of cold medicine and faint flintstone vitamin on the palate certainly raised an eyebrow lol. As always, thanks for the review!!
