Jos. A Magnus & Co. Murray Hill Club

A little background

Joseph A. Magnus & Co. is located in Washington D.C and sources bourbons and whiskeys to make blends. Murray Hill Club Batch 18 is a blend of 11 and 18 year old bourbons with 9 year old light whiskey. The distilleries from which the bourbons and whiskey are sourced is undisclosed, and therefore so is the mashbill. This bourbon whiskey is a small batch, 103 proof, and has a suggested MSPR of around $95.

Color

Dark Caramel

Nose

The nose is very complex and has a lot going on. There are notes of caramel, butterscotch and barrel char right off the bat. These are followed up with notes of apple, pear, nutmeg, and oak. Notes of vanilla and toasted oak round out the nose.

Palate

The bourbon whiskey has a medium viscosity and runs down the sides of the palate starting at the mid palate. Big notes of vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and toasted oak shine followed by notes of allspice and honey.

Finish

There is a medium finish with notes of honey, toasted oak, barrel char, and cinnamon.

In closing

This is a bourbon whiskey that I would definitely want on my bar. It is very complex and offers a lot of the flavors that I really enjoy. This is one you could go back to and pick something different out every time. If you can find it for retail, this is a solid purchase.
