A little background

Copper & Cask Small Batch Series 7-Year Double Oak Bourbon is a blend of 16 carefully selected seven-year-old Bourbon barrels, all sourced from MGP in Indiana and aged in Kentucky. The barrels that went into this blend include both the 21% rye mash bill and the 36% high-rye mash bill. For finishing, the barrels underwent re-barreling into both new and used charred and STR barrels. Batch 007 of Copper & Cask’s Small Batch Series 7-Year Double Oak Bourbon is bottled at barrel proof (58.1% ABV), non-chill filtered, and carries a $65 price tag.

(Tasted neat from a Glencairn Glass)

In closing

In conclusion, Copper & Cask Small Batch Series 7-Year Double Oak Bourbon Batch 007 offers a distinctive profile that blends vibrant citrus, sweet spices, and rich fruitiness. The ABV is impressively balanced, especially on the nose, which hints at comforting notes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch alongside more complex layers of graham cracker, lemon, and campfire smoke. On the palate, there’s a playful mix of dried orange, strawberry, and pecan pie sweetness, though a touch of astringency does slightly detract from the experience. The finish, while brief, leaves a pleasant impression with its sweet, fruity character and hints of Dr. Pepper and oak. At $65, this Bourbon delivers excellent value, offering a delightful tasting journey that’s approachable yet intriguing for seasoned bourbon fans and newcomers alike.
