A little background

The Jack Daniel Distillery introduces Distillery Series Selection #13, a Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey twice barreled in new, charred American white oak barrels, marking the latest in their experimental and innovative whiskey lineup. This unique expression, featuring a grain bill of 70% rye, 12% malted barley, and 18% corn, undergoes charcoal mellowing before its initial maturation in new oak barrels. After the initial aging, the whiskey is then transferred to a second set of new, charred barrels for an additional two and a half years, enhancing its depth and character.

According to Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, this limited-edition rye whiskey offers a bold spiciness and complex flavor profile. The twice-barreling process infuses the whiskey with notes of charred oak and blackstrap molasses, culminating in a finish of spearmint, anise, and dry baking spices, accompanied by aromas of sweet smoke and burnt sugar. Selected by Whiskey Taster Jason Marski, this 107-proof (53.5% abv) rye whiskey will be available in 375ml bottles at select Tennessee stores and the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel Distillery starting July 16, 2024, with a suggested retail price of $41.99.
