Bowman Brothers Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey Small Batch

A little background

A. Smith Bowman Distillery is located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Bowman Brothers Small Batch Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey was created to pay homage to the heroism of the Bowman brothers who were officers of the Virginia militia in the American Revolutionary War. Their bourbon is triple distilled, however, A. Smith Bowman doesn’t produce their own distillate and it’s not disclosed whom it’s sourced it from. However, there is speculation that it’s produced by Buffalo Trace. Bowman Brothers Small Batch is a Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey that’s bottled at 90 proof, has no age statement, and costs around $30.

Color

Rich Honey

Nose

Bowman Brothers Small Batch Bourbon has a very refreshing nose. Full of fruity and floral notes. After the bourbon opens up for a bit, there is a slightly minty note that comes through.

Palate

The palate is full-bodied and complex. Toasted oak followed by sweet vanilla wheat. A refreshing plum and fresh fruit note is followed by the vanilla wheat. The palate ended with a slight bit of warmth.

Finish

A nice lingering medium finish. The texture of the bourbon is quickly ended but the overall flavors stay on the palate a while.

In closing

As a person who prefers cask-strength whiskey, I still found Bowman Brothers Small Batch to still be quite enjoyable despite being just 90 proof. It’s very flavorful and a great representation of a product of Virginia. If you come across Bowman Brothers Small Batch Bournon in the store or at a bar, I recommend giving it a try
