A little background

Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Revival is crafted from a blend of 12-15-year-old bourbon whiskey that is finished in 20-year-old Oloroso Sherry Casks. Master Distiller, Eddie Russell, hand selects each Oloroso Sherry Cask to ensure Wild Turkey fans a one-of-a-kind experience. This spirit is bottled at 101 proof and MRSP is approximately $160.

Light Amber

Nose

The nose is rich, sweet, and complex. A nice spice note begins to appear as the spirit opens in the glass. Aromas of chewing tobacco, aged leather, licorice, and a faint nuttiness are also present.

Palate

The first sip was oily and coated the front and mid palate. Toasted oak was accompanied by sweet spiced vanilla. However, this quickly faded to notes of raisin and slightly bitter oak. The second sip had a burst of caramel and baking spice that transitioned to leather and dry leaf tobacco. The third sip was reminiscent of bright red berries that faded to sour black cherries.

Finish

The finish was medium to long and somewhat bitter. Red berries are accompanied by peppered oak, allspice, and faint notes of cinnamon.

In closing

Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Revival is unique and complex. The nose is rich and sweet with enticing notes of chewing tobacco, leather, and licorice. The spirit was balanced on the palate. Notes of toasted oak, caramel, baking spices, and a faint bitterness were present. The finish was medium and slightly bitter. However, the bitterness was outshined by notes of peppered oak, allspice, and cinnamon. Overall, this is an easy sipping bourbon that can be enjoyed by any level of bourbon aficionado.
