A little background

Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 1894 is a rare expression of Wild Turkey that is not available in the United States. This spirit is reported to be a blend of bourbons that have been aged 6, 11, and 13 years. The spirit is bottled at 90 proof and MSRP is set at approximately $199 Australian.

(Tasted neat from a Glencairn Glass)

Color

Honey

Nose

Oak, ethanol, corn, and vanilla notes are most prominent. As the spirit opens in the glass, notes of caramel and brown sugar begin to appear.

Palate

The first sip has a medium viscosity. Oak and spice notes coat the front and mid palate. The second sip begins with a hint of smoked vanilla that transitions into pepper wood and baking spices. The third sip is a combination of spice, leather, and stale brown sugar.

Finish

The finish is medium and spicy. Oak spice and vanilla are the most prominent notes.

In closing

The Wild Turkey master’s Keep 1894 is an interesting pour. The nose continued to open as the spirit rested in the glass. Oak spice was predominant on the palate and finish. This edition of Wild Turkey Master’s Keep is different from the American releases. This was a nice pour; however, I would not go out of my way to find a bottle for my bar.
