Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade: Where to Buy It, What It Costs, and How to Make It Yourself

June 30, 2026 · By Matthew Evans

Buffalo Trace just dropped a new ready-to-drink cocktail, and it’s already one of the most-searched bourbon releases of the summer: Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade. If you’ve been trying to figure out where to find it, what it costs, or how to recreate it at home before your next trip to Frankfort, here’s everything we know.

What Is Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade?

It’s exactly what it sounds like — Buffalo Trace’s signature bourbon blended with lemonade into a canned, ready-to-drink cocktail, landing right as porch-pounder season hits its peak.

Where to Buy Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade is only available at the Buffalo Trace Distillery Gift Shop in Frankfort, Kentucky. It’s not on liquor store shelves, it’s not in grocery stores, and it’s not available for online order — at least not yet. If you want a can (or a free taste), you have to walk through the gift shop in person.

The distillery is also pouring free samples of the new cocktail in the gift shop, so if you’re already planning a visit or stopping by for the Bourbon Backyard experience, you can try before you buy.

How Much Does It Cost?

A 4-pack runs $14.99, picked up directly at the gift shop. That works out to under $4 a can for a pre-batched bourbon cocktail made with the real thing — no syrupy mixers, no mystery whiskey.

How to Make Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade at Home

Can’t make it to Kentucky this week? Here’s our take on the drink — a simple build using any bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon already in your bar. (Note: this is our own recipe, not Buffalo Trace’s official can formula.)

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade poured over ice with a lemon wheel garnish
Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade, built at home with bourbon, fresh lemonade, and a lemon wheel.

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 2 oz Buffalo Trace bourbon
  • 6 oz fresh lemonade
  • 1 lemon wheel, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour the bourbon and lemonade into a glass and stir gently to combine.
  2. Add ice.
  3. Garnish with a lemon wheel and enjoy.

It’s a 1-part-bourbon-to-3-parts-lemonade ratio, which keeps it sessionable and porch-friendly without burying the bourbon.

Hosting a cookout or pool day? Scale the same ratio up into a pitcher.

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade — Batch Recipe (serves 8)

  • 16 oz (1 pint) Buffalo Trace bourbon
  • 48 oz (6 cups) fresh lemonade
  • Ice
  • Lemon wheels, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the bourbon and lemonade in a large pitcher and stir to combine.
  2. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Fill glasses with ice, pour, and garnish each with a lemon wheel.

Want it stronger or lighter? Keep the 1:3 bourbon-to-lemonade ratio and just scale the total volume to however many guests you’re pouring for.

FAQ: Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade

Is Buffalo Trace Bourbon Lemonade sold online?

Not currently. As of now, it’s exclusive to the Buffalo Trace Distillery Gift Shop — no online or third-party retail listings.

Can I get a free sample?

Yes — free samples are being poured in the gift shop while you shop.

What does a 4-pack cost?

$14.99 for a 4-pack, purchased at the distillery.

Is this Buffalo Trace’s official recipe?

No — the build above is Whiskey Consensus’s own recipe for a bourbon lemonade made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, not Buffalo Trace’s official can formula. The distillery hasn’t published an official recipe for the RTD itself.

Can I make my own version at home?

Yes. Buffalo Trace bourbon, fresh lemonade, ice, and a lemon wheel in a 1:3 bourbon-to-lemonade ratio makes a simple, similar-style cocktail at home.

Whiskey Consensus will keep this page updated if Buffalo Trace expands distribution of the Bourbon Lemonade RTD beyond the distillery gift shop.
