Lucky Seven The Holiday Toast

A little background

Lucky Seven Spirits was co-founded by Michael Lahalih and John Pals, college friends who share a passion for bourbon and cinema, which sets the perfect stage for Lucky Seven Spirits. Lucky Seven “The Holiday Toast” is a Limited Release Double Oaked Kentucky Straight Bourbon that’s been Finished in heavily toasted new American oak barrels. This bourbon is bottled at 115 proof and has a retail price of $75.

(Tasted neat from a Glencairn Glass)

Color

Dark Copper

Nose

Classic bourbon nose. Orange creamsicle, vanilla, yogurt, caramel, and nutmeg.

Palate

Brown sugar, caramel, Toll House cookies (without the chocolate), rhubarb, allspice, and graham cracker. Not overly thick or viscous, but a very pleasant mouthfeel.

Finish

Bright oranges, dusty chocolate, nutmeg, and burnt peanut brittle. The finish is quite long and leaves behind a wonderful cocoa note.

In closing

Very impressive! Lucky Seven The Holiday Toast started off with a classic bourbon nose and really came to life on the palate and finish. There is a very enjoyable “holiday” profile of flavors, making this bottle appropriately named and the “quintessential” holiday dram. The finish on this bourbon is exceptional and the alcohol is perfectly integrated. One aspect I’ve really liked about other Lucky Seven releases is that they all have been age stated, whereas this release isn’t. Not a deal-breaker, but it’s always nice to know a little more about the history of what’s in the bottle. Regardless, Lucky Seven outdid themselves with this release of “The Holiday Toast”! It’s an exceptional bourbon and I would absolutely recommend picking up a bottle.
