Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate

A little background

Glenmorangie produced The Cadboll Estate as their first single estate whisky. This means that everything, from grain to glass, was done in the fields of the Cadboll Estate surrounding the distillery. The whisky was aged for 15 years in first-fill American oak bourbon barrels, and is said to have a unique creaminess to it. The Cadboll Estate sits at a cool 86 proof, and can be found at an MSRP of $85.

(Tasted neat from a Halo Glass)

Dry Straw

Nose

The nose is fairly complex, coming off with notes of orange curaçao finished creme brûlée, lemon zest, peanuts, and pears. It is definitely forward on white fruits and cream!

Palate

The palate is thin-medium in viscosity. I get strong notes of roasted peanuts, honey, eucalyptus, oak, pear skin, and orange. These notes cover the entire palate, and are pretty complex. This is delightful!

Finish

The finish is medium-long and carries over the wonderful notes of orange, roasted peanuts, and oak.

In closing

Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate is a very fine dram, indeed! I really enjoyed this whisky and find it perfect to be enjoyed outside on a Summer evening (which is what I am currently experiencing). I would definitely buy this, Glenmorangie did right by their name by making this their first Single Estate whisky!
