Kentucky Senator Spirits Louisiana Senator 8 Year Bourbon Release 1

A little background

Kentucky Senator Spirits has expanded its award-winning bourbon lineup with the debut of the Louisiana Senator series, kicking off with the Huey P. Long Release—a small-batch bourbon honoring the legacy of the fiery Louisiana senator known as “The Kingfish.” This inaugural expression, the first in a planned vertical series spanning 8-, 9-, and 10-year ages, is an 8-year-old bourbon bottled at 107 proof with a mash bill of 78% corn, 13% rye, and 9% malted barley. Blended in collaboration with master blenders Denny Potter and Jane Bowie of Potter Jane Distillery in Springfield, Kentucky, and limited to just 1,000 bottles including single barrel options, it promises a rich profile that bridges Southern heritage and bold craftsmanship, now available primarily in Louisiana through distributor Uncorked.

In closing

The Kentucky Senator Spirits Louisiana Senator 8 Year Bourbon Release 1, honoring Huey P. Long, delivers a compelling sip that balances rich history with bold flavor. Its inviting nose of caramel, almonds, dark cherry, and toasty oak sets the stage for a smooth, medium-bodied palate brimming with vanilla, peanuts, corn sweetness, and warm rye spice. The long, peppery finish, while structured, can lean slightly astringent due to tight tannins, which may not suit every palate. This bourbon’s fun nod to “The Kingfish” and its well-crafted 107-proof profile make it a standout worth trying for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a taste of Southern legacy with a modern twist. Yet another fun (and tasty) release from Kentucky Senator Spirits!
