The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old

A little background

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old is part of the Triple Cask Matured range from The Macallan , a series of single malt whiskies crafted in a triple cask combination of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. According to The Macallan, Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old was previously known as Fine Oak 18 Years Old and offers the same extraordinarily smooth, delicate yet complex character with a new name, new bottle and bold new packaging. This single malt whisky is bottled at 43% ABV and has a retail price of $350 USD.

In closing

Simply put, The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old is an exceptional single malt whisky. It’s dense, complex, and a heavenly treat for the senses. The palate is thick and oily, leaving the mouth coated in velvety notes of orange citrus, chocolate, and vanilla. Many of these wonderful flavors carry through to an enjoyable long finish. As for the value of this bottle, that’s a difficult one. The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old is without question an exceptional whisky and something I’d suggest trying. This might be one of those “try before you buy” bottles. Regardless, you won’t be disappointed with this one!
