Barrell Craft Spirits Hazmat Triple Rum Cask Finished Whiskey

A little background

Barrell Craft Spirits, founded in 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, is an independent blender known for its unique, aged, cask-strength whiskey and rum. The Hazmat Triple Rum Cask Finish Whiskey is a limited-release blend of whiskeys distilled in Indiana, Tennessee, and Canada, with some barrels aged up to 25 years. The BCS team created this unique blend by selecting a diverse set of whiskeys, each meticulously finished in a distinct rum cask from Jamaica, Barbados, or St. Lucia, imparting tropical and molasses-driven characteristics. After finishing, the components were skillfully blended to harmonize the bold spice of the whiskey with the rich, exotic sweetness of the rum casks. Bottled in Kentucky at 142.24 proof (71.12% ABV) with an undisclosed mash bill, this expression is available for purchase online at barrellbourbon.com and select retailers for a suggested retail price of $199 per 750ml bottle.

In closing

Barrell Craft Spirits Hazmat Triple Rum Cask Finish Whiskey delivers a complex and engaging experience that belies its formidable 142.24 proof. The long, rich finish lingers with mint jelly, dusty cinnamon, pineapple, coconut, lime, mocha, caramel, and vanilla, where the Canadian whiskey character shines alongside the heavy dark rum influence. This hazmat-proof whiskey is a bold yet “approachable” delight, making it a standout for enthusiasts seeking a spirited adventure.
