A little background
Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is distilled at Midleton Distillery located in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland which also produces Jameson and Tullamore Dew. The whiskey is aged at least 15 years and uses both a malted barley and an unmalted barley mashbill. The whiskey is 92 proof, non-chill filtered, and is triple distilled in copper pot stills. It is matured in oak casks utilizing both 1st fill and refill casks. This is a blended whiskey that comes in at a price of around $90.

Nose
The nose is delightful with big spice notes right off the bat. This is followed by notes of caramel, espresso, toffee, and pear.
Palate
The standard pot still note is prevalent upfront as well as a punch of cinnamon spice. This is followed by caramel, toasted oak, fresh orchard fruit such as pear/apple, and a touch of leather.
Finish
Redbreast 15 Year Old has a medium-length finish that lingers with notes of fresh berries, toffee, and cinnamon that are followed by leather at the end.
In closing
Redbreast 15 Year Old is a solid whiskey that really benefits from being 92 proof instead of 80 or 86 proof for example. This is a punchy whiskey that delivers bold flavors. I would recommend this to the avid Irish whiskey drinker that is looking for something different or a bourbon drinker that is looking to enter the Irish whiskey world. Being at least 15 years old, this is a good value at the $90 price point.
