Rebel Yell is a bottom shelf dweller (not a bad thing) from Lux Row Distillers. This is a sourced 80 proof wheated bourbon believed to be distilled by Heaven Hill. Lux Row has recently began distilling, so at some point in the future the Rebel Yell label will transition to their own distillate. Retail price of around $18.
(Tasted neat from a Glencairn.)
Color in the glass
Light Gold
Nose
Surprising more aromatic than I anticipated for the Proof and age. It is corn forward with peach, apricot, and honey undertones.
Palate
Corn forward again with a slight hint of the fruit from the nose. Nothing too special here but also nothing off-putting per-say.
Finish
Very short with just a flash of vanilla before disappearing.
In closing
As a bourbon enthusiast there just isn’t much for me in this bourbon, but that is okay because not every bourbon is meant for people like me. So, with that in mind I have to say that while nothing wowed me here I can also say that there was nothing off-putting either and I could see how this bottle has its place many peoples’ shelves.
