OLD ELK INFINITY BLEND 2022

A little background

Located in Fort Collins, Colorado, Old Elk Distillery was founded by legendary entrepreneur Curt Richardson. Joined by Greg Metze as the Master Distiller following a 38-year career at Seagram’s Distillery (MGP) in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Old Elk has been making great strides in the American whiskey world. From running one of the world’s largest distilleries, Greg is specialized in developing bourbon whiskeys, rye whiskeys, exotic whiskeys, batch light whiskeys, gin, and vodka.

According to Old Elk Distillery, Infinity blend is a testament to legacy and supreme craftsmanship. Created by Master Distiller Greg Metze, the second Infinity Blend annual release is built on the foundation of the original 2021 Infinity Blend and completed with gently matured and hand selected barrels of Old Elk Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Old Elk Straight Wheat Whiskey, and two vintage Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys. 2022 Old Elk Infinity Blend is bottled at 114.10 Proof and has a suggested retail price of around $150 USD.

In closing

The second annual release of Old Elk Infinity Blend is a great progression to Master Distiller Greg Metze Infinity Blend series. The complex nose on this whiskey will keep you busy for days and leave you begging to take a sip. The palate is packed full of rich pecan pie flavors, along with baking spice and fudge. The finish continues to cary those rich notes, however with much more oak and nutty influence.

Although priced a bit on the high end, the 2022 release of Old Elk Infinity Blend is an enjoyable whiskey with fun and unique flavors. With this being an annual “Infinity” release, I’m looking forward to seeing how it progresses over the years.
