A little background
The John Edwards Release is the sixth small-batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Kentucky Senator Bourbon, continuing its tradition of honoring distinguished statesmen. This limited-edition offering, aged for seven and a half years and bottled at 107 proof, has a suggested retail price of $119.99 per 750mL bottle. Distilled and aged in Kentucky, this batch features a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley.
Named after John Edwards, Kentucky’s second-ever U.S. Senator and a resident of Bourbon County, this exclusive release continues the brand’s legacy of honoring distinguished statesmen. Born in 1748 in Virginia, John Edwards moved to what is now Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 1780, establishing himself as a plantation owner and militia leader. He played a vital role in Kentucky’s separation from Virginia, serving on the 1788 commission that defined its borders, and became one of Kentucky’s first two U.S. Senators upon statehood in 1792. His influence extended to shaping the Commonwealth’s governance and notable acts, such as arranging for the freedom of an enslaved woman and providing for her children in his will. Approximately 2,000 bottles of this release will be available.
