Jack Daniel’s Distillery Distillery Series selection #11 is a Tennessee Whiskey that’s finished in Añejo Tequila barrels. Bottled at 90 proof, it’s available in 375ml bottles for $41.99 at the Jack Daniel Distillery’s White Rabbit Bottle Shop and select Tennessee stores. According to Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, “this añejo tequila barrel-finished whiskey pushes the bounds on what people may expect out of a Tennessee Whiskey, yet still has the familiar characteristics that are uniquely Jack Daniel’s.”

Nose

Sweet orange citrus, baking spice, cotton candy, vanilla taffy, oak, and a little funk.

Palate

Sweet with notes of brown sugar, spice, cantaloupe, and cinnamon.

Finish

Lingering spice, lemon, cocoa, green pepper, and honey dew Mellon.

In closing

At first glance, finishing Tennessee Whisky in Tequila barrels might seem like an uncommon pairing of flavors. However, Jack Daniel’s has proven that to be far from the truth with this Distillery Series Selection that’s been Finished in Añejo Tequila Barrels. The sweet profiles of each spirit mingle wonderfully into a fantastic finished whiskey with a wonderful flavor profile.
