A little background

The Ingram Distillery, founded in 2015 by Hank Ingram in Columbus, Kentucky, specializes in whiskies aged entirely on the Mississippi River within custom-built floating barrelhouses housed in former grain barges. This unique process exposes the whiskey to the river’s constant motion, high humidity, and natural heat cycling, fostering a distinctive interaction between the spirit and oak that defines the brand’s portfolio, including its award-winning O.H. Ingram River Aged series.

Uncharted Wheated River Aged Bourbon represents a wheated mash bill expression from the distillery, bottled at 92 proof and packaged in 100% recycled glass bottles available in 750ml ($39.99 SRP) and 1L ($44.99 SRP) formats.

In closing

Ingram’s Uncharted Wheated River Aged Bourbon is a compelling offering that successfully leverages its innovative “river-aged” story to deliver a highly versatile and exceptional value whiskey. While it may not possess the complex depth of a decades-old wheater, with some higher-proof expressions showing a hint of youthfulness, its core profile is undeniably appealing. The robust notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and oak on the nose and palate, culminating in a satisfying cocoa-laced finish, make it soft, approachable, and highly enjoyable. At an MSRP around $40, this 92-proof bourbon is an absolute must-buy that punches well above its class, serving equally well as an excellent neat sipper or a fantastic base for cocktails, cementing its place as a truly unique and recommended bottle.

The Bourbon tasted for this review was provided by The Ingram Distillery with no strings attached. We thank them for for the opportunity to try this whiskey!
