A little background
Hell Diver First Flight is the latest masterpiece in the Found North High Altitude Collection. This collection stands apart by embracing the intricate process of blending, finishing, and reblending, rather than using fully matured whiskies. Hell Diver embodies this philosophy, beginning as a blend of 15, 22, and 23-year-old corn, combined with 18 and 19-year-old rye, then expertly recasked into Pedro Ximénez Sherry, Cognac, and New American oak casks.
Over a year of careful monitoring, Found North tracked the progression of these casks, selecting and vatting them at their peak maturation. Only two-thirds of these casks made it into the final blend, ensuring the perfect balance. The initial blend was crafted with Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks in mind, known for their potent influence. According to the brand, to match their intensity, they developed a robust and rich blend featuring prominent orchard fruit preserves, earthy rye spice, and distinct rose blossom water top notes. This foundation was designed to harmonize beautifully with the sweet and dry nuances of the PX Sherry casks. Found North Hell Diver is bottled at 119 Proof and has a retail price of around $160 USD.
