Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a product from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Named after the founder of bourbon, Reverend Elijah Craig, this whiskey historically packed a 12 year age statement, however, that age statement was removed by Heaven Hill in 2023 in an effort to have more variation between batches.

Understanding the Label

Each batch of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof contains an uncut selection of Bourbon bottled straight from the barrel. As a result, each batch varies by age and proof. The batch number on the label provides specific information about each batch. The first letter indicates the order of the release for that year, starting with “A.” The first number represents the month of the release. The third and fourth digits indicate the year. For example, if we look at batch C922, the “C” denotes that it is the third batch of the year, “9” is the month that it was released in (September), and “22” signifies the year it was released in.
