A little background

Calumet Farm Bourbon exemplifies the same heritage, tradition, and high standards as the Thoroughbred Horses found on the farm. This bourbon is created from a small batch of 19 barrels that aged in a specific center cut rack in the rickhouse. After 10 years of aging in ideal conditions, this bourbon is bottled at 92 proof. The MSRP for this release is set at $50. The traditional mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley make this bourbon an homage to horse racing in the Bluegrass State.

Color

Dark Amber

Nose

The nose is sweet with notes of butterscotch, honey, and vanilla. A faint nuttiness is also noted.

Palate

The first sip has a medium viscosity, is sweet, and leaves a concentrated heat in the back palate. The second sip coats the mouth. Smoke, char, oak, and alcohol are present. The third sip is interesting and revealed notes of peanut brittle and vanilla.

Finish

The finish is medium in heat and length. Smoke, barrel char, and oak are most notable. There are faint notes of cinnamon and spice that appear as the finish begins to fade.

In conclusion

Calumet Farm 10 Year bourbon leaves something to be desired for a well-aged bourbon. The nose and palate are straight forward. Alcohol, smoke, and char are the most notable flavors in this bourbon. Overall, this bourbon seems to be lacking compared to other 10-year bourbons in the market.
