Wild Turkey Master's Keep 17yr Bottled in Bond

A little background

Wild Turkey Master’s Keep is an annual special release from the venerable Wild Turkey distillery with each expression being unique from the others. This year’s Master’s Keep 17yr Bottled in Bond release received a lot of pre-release hype due to it’s 17 years of aging at the now cult classic Camp Nelson Warehouses. The retail price is $175.

Color

Dark Copper

Nose

Molasses, leather bound books, candy necklace, and sandalwood. Very inviting and classic Wild Turkey.

Palate

Bursting with mixed rock candies, with cherry and raspberry at the front transitioning to a sweet and spicy cinnamon on the back end. A bit of baking spices and licorice add a savoriness to the palate.

Finish

Lingering waxy texture is left behind continuing the cinnamon candy spice swell. Vanilla and an ever so slight tannic oak sit with you for a number of minutes.

In closing

Let’s face it, there is just something special about hyper aged and well blended bourbon. In today’s market of overpriced and over hyped young bourbon it’s releases like this 17yr Master’s Keep Bottled in Bond that goes to show that there is no substitute for Father Time in creating special whiskey.

Great bourbon. LONG finish on this one but just so good. Lots of different and complimentary flavors appear.
