Remus Repeal Reserve Series IX

A Little Background

Remus Repeal Reserve Series IX, released by Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, marks the ninth annual installment of the limited-edition bourbon series, launched in September 2025 to commemorate the 1933 repeal of Prohibition. This 104-proof (52% ABV), non-chill filtered straight bourbon, priced at a suggested retail of $99.99 per 750mL bottle, is a blend of four high-rye bourbons aged 10 to 18 years, selected by Master Distiller Ian Stirsman from MGP’s finest stocks. The mash bill consists of:

  • 7% 2015 bourbon with 21% rye
  • 26% 2013 bourbon with 36% rye
  • 23% 2015 bourbon with 36% rye
  • 44% 2015 bourbon with 21% rye

The limited-edition release is the highest-proof offering in the Remus Repeal Reserve series to date, crafted to provide a unique experience through careful barrel selection and non-chill filtration. Produced by Luxco, a division of MGP Ingredients Inc., the bourbon is part of an award-winning portfolio, with Series VIII earning a platinum medal at the 2025 ASCOT Awards and a double gold at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Remus Repeal Reserve Series IX delivers a classic bourbon experience that balances value and quality, making it a standout in its price range. Its inviting nose of cherry, seasoned oak, leather, fudge, and baking spices leads to a palate that’s spicy yet approachable, with cherry, cinnamon, dark chocolate, almonds, and black tea coating the tongue. The medium-to-long, drying finish, rich with dry oak, dried fruits, clove, and toasted almonds, rounds out a profile that’s both robust and refined.
