A little background

Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon provides a chance to enjoy the proclaimed Heaven Hill wheated mashbill at cask strength. This mashbill consists of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. After aging for six to eight years, the spirit is non-chill filtered, and is then bottled at barrel proof. Each January, May, and September a new batch of Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon is released, this batch of C920 being released in September 2020. MSRP is set at $49.99 and the bourbon is bottled at 122.4 Proof.

Color

Dark Gold

Nose

Caramel, vanilla, corn, cinnamon, and a touch of nutmeg. Plenty of heat!

Palate

Molasses, pancake syrup (not pure maple syrup, but the fake stuff like Log Cabin or Aunt Jemima), leather, candied orange. Sweet and pleasant with more subtle notes of peanuts and sweet tea.

Finish

A long finish with continued syrup-like sweetness. Pecan pralines, caramel, and vanilla. Slightly drying.

In closing

If sweet bourbon is your thing, then this bourbon is for you! Very well balanced with a delicious syrup-like flavor. The Nose, Palate, and Finish were all quite enjoyable and made for a great sipping experience. At $50, it’s a thumbs up from me!
