A little background

Distillery 291 is a small batch whiskey distillery nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the distillery sits in the shadow of Pikes Peak where owner and founding distiller, Michael Myers has the goal of creating a whiskey that is “rugged, refined, and rebellious.” The mashbill is 80% corn, 19% malted rye, and 1% malted barley, comes in at 100 proof, is aged for less than 2 years, and comes with a suggested retail price of $78.99.

(Tasted neat from a Glencairn Glass)

Fresh baked breads, cinnamon, allspice, lots of pine and tree sap, maple, and oak come through on the palate.

Finish

This is a medium length finish that has lots of pine, maple, cinnamon, and oak tannins.

In closing

Distillery 291 Colorado Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey is a very unique whiskey that takes me to the mountains of Colorado. I’m looking forward to going back to this one as it has some cool flavors going on!
