A little background
Not long ago, Chattanooga Whiskey released their Vote Whiskey lineup. During the original Vote Whiskey Campaign, Chattanooga Whiskey selected a recipe and bought 1200 barrels of whiskey from Lawrenceburg Distillers of Indiana (LDI) to raise awareness of their law-changing mission to change state laws that prohibited the distillation of spirits. This whiskey became their award-winning 1816 series, and this “Vote Whiskey” Single Barrel Bourbon represents the last of these barrels. This 12-year-old, limited-release bourbon offers a unique character and flavor profile that will never be replicated. This particular barrel was 12 years old, proofed at 121.2, and had an MSRP of $125.

Color
Yellow Gold
Nose
The nose is rich and filled with notes of honey, biscuits, dried cherries, baker’s sugar, a very light note of orange rind, and oak.
Palate
The palate is medium in viscosity. I immediately get a burst of honey on the mid-palate, followed by light notes of cherries on the back palate and orange rind on the front palate. I also get notes of black pepper on the sides of the back palate, as well as a hint of syrup on the front palate.
Finish
The finish is medium-long and filled with notes of honey on the mid-back palate, cherries on the mid-front palate, biscuits on the side of the palate, and bread on the mid-back palate. After a minute or so, a note of oak spice develops on the back palate.
In closing
This is a great whiskey! It is not mind-blowing, but it is surely delicious and one that I could drink all of the time. The palate is concentrated with flavor and it carries over to the finish pretty well. I wish I could’ve been around for the release, I would’ve grabbed one of each of them for sure. At their cost, you really can’t beat it!
