Breckenridge Bourbon

A little background

Breckenridge Bourbon is, according to their website, a blend on bourbon distilled at their distillery in Colorado and bourbon sourced from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.  Once blended the bourbon is proofed down to 86 proof, 43% ABV, and sold with a retail price of around $40-$45.

(Tasted neat from a Glencairn.)

Color

Light Gold

Nose

Banana runts candy, tropical punch, honey, and lemon grass. Bright and fruity with just a hint of youth showing.

Palate

Thin with the tart fruit from the nose being the dominant factor. There is not much depth to here unfortunately.

Finish

The Barrel finally shows up in the form of vanilla and a vague burnt salted caramel.

In closing

While nothing is off putting with this bourbon, there is also not much there to dissect, which may be due to over dilution.  So with that said, I must state that there are many lower priced bourbons on the shelf that are more in my wheelhouse flavor wise.
