In closing
The Blue Run Spirits Golden Rye is an enjoyable seasonal pour in my opinion. The lower proof combined with the cool rye finish would be quite refreshing on those hot summer days. The nose is subtle and well done giving faint aromas of a bakery with that pear note that really entices the drinker. The palate is light and creamy with more subtle flavors. No flavor is going jump out but rather give the drinker a mellow experience from start to finish. The Baking spices mixed with the honey is well done and not overly sweet. The finish is almost a continuation of the palate with just a bit more rye spice with little to no heat rounding off the experience. Is this an enjoyable pour?…yes! Is it worth $109.99?…I would have to say no. For my money I would say it is a homerun in the $50-60 range and could easily recommend it to anyone. I think if this was released in cask strength it would be an amazing bottle; filled with the viscosity, powerful flavors, and potent finish I was hoping for from this release.
